Police are re-examining 1999 CCTV from Putney Bridge station in the unsolved murder of Jill Dando using improved enhancement technology. The Met says this review is part of ongoing inquiries, not a new investigation or a significant line of inquiry.
Dando was shot dead outside her home in Fulham on April 26, 1999. Footage shows an unidentified person described as “man X” near the station, about a mile from her home, shortly after the shooting. The Mirror reported that a driver who saw a man running on Fulham Palace Road around the time of the attack later picked “man X” out of the footage as the person she had seen.
The Met said the case has been subject to numerous reviews over the 27 years since the murder, to assess whether advances in technology and forensics could help move it forward.
