Pocketpair publishing head John Buckley called Combolands a possible 2026 indie game of the year and urged even genre skeptics to try it. The city-building roguelike had a 97% positive Steam rating at the time of writing; two-person studio Crux Games developed it.
Players place buildings to create synergies and cascading combos, then unlock guilds with different advantages and disadvantages as they try to turn a small settlement into a bustling economy. Crux Games describes the game as delivering strategic depth in 30-minute bursts.
