Tom’s Guide found the OM SYSTEM OM-3 Astro captured sharper stars and a deeper, higher-contrast sky than the Pixel 11 Pro XL, which produced brighter images and clearer foregrounds. The reviewer favored the camera for still-image detail, while the phone simplified shooting.
The test paired the OM-3 Astro with an Olympus 12mm f/2 lens and compared one 15-second camera exposure—not a stacked sequence—with the Pixel’s automated Night Sight exposure, which could take several minutes. The reviewer said the phone’s processing revealed faint stars and kept trees and passing clouds sharp, but gave the sky a gray, somewhat flattened look.
The Pixel’s camera app also automatically produced a short time-lapse of the moving sky and clouds alongside each finished photo in Google Photos. Making a similar clip with the OM-3 Astro requires an intervalometer, hundreds of frames and desktop software to assemble them.
