Pinterest reported Q2 2026 revenue of $1.18 billion, up 18% year over year, and 640 million monthly active users, up 11%. The article sees room to monetize more users, particularly internationally, but says higher infrastructure and AI spending could pressure margins.

Pinterest generated $269.9 million in free cash flow in the quarter, up 37% year over year. Cost of revenue rose 27% to $257.4 million, primarily as users and engagement increased; it reached 22% of revenue, up from 20% a year earlier, putting pressure on gross margin.

Pinterest is developing visual-search ads and shoppable Pins. The article says their success depends on measurable sales, repeat campaigns and additional advertiser spending. CEO Bill Ready argued that unnecessary reliance on proprietary AI models can be inefficient; Pinterest is combining them with lower-cost open-weight alternatives and selecting models based on each task's complexity.
