Philipp Treu impressed at right-back on his Germany debut in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, earning praise from teammate Jonathan Tah for his work along the flank. His display did not secure another start; Josha Vagnoman is also an option against Greece on Sunday.
Tah called Treu’s movement up and down the touchline “incredible” for a first international appearance and said it was “exactly what we need.” Treu told ARD the praise “has to give you a boost.”
Germany coach Jürgen Klopp had also praised Treu’s ability to cover ground on the flank when announcing the squad, amid discussion about the team’s options at right-back.
