Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would begin a phased arrangement if Washington accepts it; the proposal, delivered through mediators, would reopen the Strait of Hormuz after seven days if Tehran's conditions are met, then start talks on ending the war.
Pezeshkian said the framework breaks an earlier memorandum—which he said he and President Donald Trump signed in Pakistan—into stages. He said Iran and Oman would coordinate shipping routes, and ships traveling outside those routes would need to coordinate with them.
Pezeshkian said nuclear inspection arrangements could be negotiated in new talks, but rejected inspectors returning to existing frameworks outside such an agreement. He said developing nuclear weapons is religiously forbidden. He did not commit to meeting Trump, saying trust must first be restored and written commitments honored.
