Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran does not want to continue the war and that Washington must decide whether to end it. In a Fox News interview aired Thursday, he said Iran was ready to reach a deal with President Donald Trump.
Pezeshkian blamed what he called Israeli “instigations” for imposing the war on Iran and said disputes should be resolved through dialogue. He questioned the collapse of a shaky ceasefire within two weeks of an agreement. Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the UN General Assembly in New York; their talks produced no immediate breakthrough.
On Yemen’s Houthis, Pezeshkian said they act on their own and that Tehran has contacts with them but no “systematic relationship.” Washington and its allies, including Saudi Arabia, accuse Iran of backing the group.
