Greenville County’s election board unanimously appointed Patty Roach as its elections director, a little over a month before statewide races for U.S. Senate, governor, attorney general and superintendent of education.
Roach took over as interim director in March after Conway Belangia left to lead South Carolina’s election office; Belangia had led Greenville County’s office for 34 years. Board Chairman Jerry Barron said Roach led the office through seven elections in six months during her interim tenure. She has worked for the county elections office for 18 years.
