Six-year-old Partaap's family, from Wolverhampton, has raised £1m in just over two weeks to help fund the design and delivery of specialist treatment in Berkeley, California, following his diagnosis with an extremely rare form of juvenile ALS.
The family said they had been told that only 40 to 50 children worldwide had been diagnosed with the condition. Partaap is believed to be the youngest person in the UK living with it. His symptoms began early last year, and doctors confirmed the diagnosis in January.
Partaap's mother, Gurbinder, said reaching the target allowed plans for treatment to move forward; the family met the assembled team this week. Donations came from their local community and supporters around the world.
