Mary Bowie and her family reunited with Pandora six years after the cat escaped in a 2020 car crash. A Cats Protection volunteer traced Bowie through Pandora’s microchip; the call came on Bowie’s 60th birthday, and Pandora is now home.
Bowie recalled that Pandora’s carrier was thrown from the vehicle and opened in the crash. In August, a woman in Perth saw the stray trying to get into her home and contacted Cats Protection; volunteer Fiona Morrison scanned Pandora and found the working microchip.
Bowie said Pandora recognized the family immediately. Cats Protection said the case highlighted the importance of microchipping pets and keeping owners’ contact details up to date.
