Latido Films will handle international sales for Vanesa Benítez’s “200 Lives, Paco Rabal,” set for its world premiere as the closing film in San Sebastián’s Made in Spain section. Rabal narrates his life through cassette memoir recordings and family archive.
The Spain-France-Mexico co-production combines Rabal’s cassette memoirs with his Super 8 films, photographs, videotapes and other family material. Benítez avoids a conventional talking-head biography: Rabal’s recordings and archive drive the film, while other testimonies are heard in voiceover.
Rabal made more than 200 films and worked across Spain, France, Italy and Mexico. His wife, actor Asunción Balaguer, spent decades preserving and organizing his archive.
