Investing.com reports OpenAI is expected to repackage agent features in ChatGPT and Codex to counter Meta’s Muse and SpaceX’s Grok Bot, rather than build a new system. OpenAI leaders have also discussed launching a dedicated personal assistant.
Meta launched Muse on Sept. 8. The personal agent can send emails, book travel, manage payments and organize calendars while continuing to run in a virtual machine after the app closes. It became the top free iOS app in the U.S. and reached 448,000 daily active users within 12 days, according to Sensor Tower data cited by Wells Fargo analyst Ken Gawrelski. Amazon blocked it from its e-commerce marketplace over security and privacy concerns less than two weeks after launch.
SpaceX’s AI division rolled out Grok Bot in August; it can sign in to apps and websites, retain context across sessions and let multiple bots share information. Grok’s monthly active users fell about 5% quarter over quarter in Q2. OpenAI hired OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger earlier this year; CEO Sam Altman said he would lead work on the next generation of personal agents and that the work would quickly become core to OpenAI’s offerings.
