SB Nation

Ohio State beat Illinois 42-19 to open Big Ten play and move to 3-1, but gave up 462 yards, including 199 rushing yards. Julian Sayin threw for 367 yards and four TDs; Jeremiah Smith had 217 yards and four TDs on 12 catches. The Buckeyes visit Iowa next Saturday.

Ohio State totaled 518 yards and committed no turnovers. Sayin's rushing touchdown brought him to a career-high five total touchdowns. Illinois averaged 6.0 yards per carry, converted 50% of third downs and did not turn the ball over. The episode's analysis said the defensive line had not looked as dominant as in recent years and Ohio State would need more from its front seven as the schedule toughened; it described the secondary as one of the unit's brighter spots.

No. 17 Iowa beat No. 18 Michigan 20-19 on a last-second touchdown. College GameDay will be at next Saturday's matchup in Iowa City.
