Norma Dumont says her personal animosity with Ailin Perez will fuel their Sept. 26 bantamweight bout on UFC Vegas 121’s preliminary card. She expects to stop Perez before the final round and hopes a win will help earn her a shot at the division title.
In an August social-media video, Perez claimed Dumont distracted her boyfriend and fellow UFC fighter Marco Tulio while he watched Dumont train. Dumont said Perez had secretly filmed her three times and that Tulio blocked Perez after she tagged him in posts. Tulio criticized Perez’s promotional style as bad for the sport.
Dumont said she believes the winner and loser of the Nov. 14 Kayla Harrison-Amanda Nunes fight at UFC 324 will retire, which she expects would leave the bantamweight title vacant. She is coming off an April decision loss to Joselyne Edwards, though Dumont says she deserved the win.
