Bob Costas said the Baseball Hall of Fame has not allowed Ford C. Frick Award voters to consider Giants broadcasters Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper together, though the group almost unanimously wants to vote on the pair. Any joint selection would have to wait until 2028.
The award usually recognizes one broadcaster a year; its only joint presentation was the inaugural 1978 award to Red Barber and Mel Allen. The next award cycle will focus on broadcasters whose careers ended before the 1994 Wild Card era. Kuiper has been a finalist five times and Krukow four.
