No. 1 Nebraska swept Rutgers 25-21, 25-22, 25-15 in Friday’s Big Ten opener in Lincoln. Rutgers scored seven points across 28 rallies with Laney Choboy serving and hit .137 to Nebraska’s .320, despite a 4-3 edge in aces.
Rutgers won its serve-receive rallies 25% of the time against Choboy, compared with 60.9% against Nebraska’s other servers. Eleven of Rutgers’ 21 attack errors and four of Nebraska’s seven blocks came during Choboy’s service turns.
Rutgers rallied from 13-23 to 22-24 in the second set, saving five set points before an attack error ended its run. Harper Murray led the match with 15 kills for Nebraska; Andi Jackson had 14. Rutgers fell to 9-4 overall and 0-1 in Big Ten play and was scheduled to visit Iowa Saturday at 7 p.m.
