Nikon’s $1,400 Z5IIC puts the Z5II’s 24.5MP full-frame sensor and many features in a smaller body, $450 below the Z5II’s current MSRP, but drops the electronic viewfinder and second card slot. DPReview says it retains capable autofocus, stabilization and video.
The camera retains 7.5EV in-body stabilization, a full mechanical shutter and 11fps mechanical shooting; its 30fps electronic bursts are JPEG-only. It records 4K/30p across the sensor’s full width, while 4K/60p uses a 1.5x crop. Its articulated 3.2-inch display has 1.04 million dots, compared with 2.1 million on the Z5II.
DPReview says its sample gallery uses cropped, re-saved out-of-camera JPEGs from a pre-production camera, at Nikon’s request; the final review is to include full-size JPEGs and RAW files. The review also flags a risk, not a current compatibility problem: future software updates could reduce compatibility with unlicensed third-party Z-mount lenses. Testers found the screen hard to see in bright sunlight.
