Adam Schefter reported the NFL fined 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for his touchdown celebration against Miami, which the league interpreted as a beer chug. Juszczyk’s gesture is meant to depict sipping juice; he told Schefter he doesn’t drink beer.
The NFL’s fine letter called the imitation an “offensive demonstration” that could reasonably be construed as poor taste. Juszczyk reportedly has appealed the fine.
Earlier this season, the league fined Juszczyk $20,033 for unnecessary roughness in Week 1 against the Rams in Melbourne. The fine followed a block against Myles Garrett on a Christian McCaffrey run, during which Juszczyk led with his helmet.
