Actors Hannah Einbinder and Susan Sarandon were among those detained at an anti-war protest outside the UN in New York, the New York Post reported. The sit-in coincided with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s UN address; it was unclear whether either faced charges.
Jewish Voice for Peace organized the sit-in, which drew hundreds of people demanding Netanyahu’s arrest. NYPD officers tried to clear the street before his remarks; Sarandon was photographed in handcuffs, while video showed officers escorting Einbinder away.
Before the protest, Einbinder said the U.S. government fully funds what she called a genocide in Palestine and urged the U.S. to stop funding it.
