New Mexico’s women’s soccer team (3-2-2) opens Mountain West play with home games against San José State Thursday at 7 p.m. and Nevada Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lobos’ last two nonconference games ended 1-1 after they surrendered late leads and opponents earned penalty kicks.
Coach Karley Nelson said the nonconference schedule prepared the team for league play despite the results. She identified late-game discipline, communication and defensive organization as areas to improve, saying players should focus on what they can control.
Fourth-year forward Nicole Anderson leads New Mexico with four goals. Both home games are free to attend and will stream on the Mountain West Network.
