After Chicago missed the playoffs for a third straight season, Natasha Cloud praised GM Jeff Pagliocca’s moves, saying a healthy Sky could have made the postseason and likely been a top-five playoff team. Coach Tyler Marsh’s future remains uncertain.
Cloud pointed to injuries: she missed time this month with a left knee injury, Skylar Diggins missed the closing stretch with a knee injury, and Rickea Jackson has been out since May after tearing her left ACL against the Minnesota Lynx. DiJonai Carrington, Aicha Coulibaly and Azura Stevens also entered the injury list this season. Pagliocca said in July that injuries should not be an excuse for the Sky missing the playoffs again.
Marsh said the team had improved from his first season to his second and that he loves coaching the Sky, but the decision on whether he returns is not his and he will accept the outcome. Cloud had also defended him in August, saying he deserved grace as a second-year head coach.
