Nash, a San Diego golden retriever, repeatedly brought toys to a man who entered his owners’ home through a second-story window earlier this month. Officers caught the man in the backyard and took him into custody; nothing was reported stolen, and Nash was unharmed.
Dante Rowley and Stephanie Calderon were returning from Chicago when their security system alerted them. They watched the footage from a plane and called police; video showed Nash bring the man toys at least three times, with his tail wagging.
The man allegedly removed his shirt and shoes, ate yogurt, turkey and cheese from the fridge, and appeared to nap. Reports said he later tried to escape through a first-floor bathroom window. Rowley said the couple plans to increase home security; Nash also greeted responding officers with a toy.
