At UFC BJJ 11, Mikey Musumeci beat Bryce Mitchell by unanimous decision after controlling the three-round grappling match and threatening submissions. The much larger Mitchell survived several deep attempts until the final bell; the scores were not disclosed.
Musumeci repeatedly used leg locks to sweep into top position rather than finish, and threatened an anaconda choke, an omoplata and an armbar. Mitchell said he was in “survival mode” for much of the contest and that Musumeci could have hurt one of his legs. Musumeci reiterated plans to switch to MMA, saying he finds grappling with rougher UFC fighters more fun than competing against pure grapplers.
The co-main event between Nick Rodriguez and champion Mason Fowler ended in a split draw, leaving Fowler with the belt. The result was controversial: Rodriguez seemingly outgrappled Fowler in two of the three rounds, according to the report.
