Motley Fool favors GE Vernova for conservative investors over X-Energy

Motley Fool

Motley Fool sees GE Vernova as the better fit for conservative investors, citing its gas-turbine business and $176 billion backlog; it calls newly public X-Energy a volatile, speculative bet with more upside if its SMR plans succeed.

At the end of the second quarter, GE Vernova had 116 gigawatts of capacity under contract. Its BWRX-300 is a light-water reactor using low-enriched uranium; X-Energy’s helium-cooled Xe-100 is designed to reach 750°C for industrial processes. X-Energy aims to complete construction and installation at its TX-1 fuel facility next year, begin commercial fuel fabrication by 2028 and deploy Xe-100 reactors to customers including Dow Chemical and Amazon in the 2030s.
