SB Nation

Mizzou lost 31-24 to Mississippi State on Saturday after overturning an early 14-0 deficit with a 24-3 run across the second and third quarters. The Tigers were shut out in the fourth, allowing 14 points and turning a late red-zone drive over on downs.

Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor threw two first-quarter touchdown passes to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-0. Mizzou answered with a field goal and a touchdown set up by Trajen Greco's interception, then took the lead on two third-quarter touchdown catches by Cayden Lee. By the end of the third, Lee had 93 yards and two touchdowns; Austin Simmons had thrown for 223 yards and three scores.

Mississippi State tied the game on Fluff Bothwell's 4-yard run after a 14-play, 73-yard drive, then took the lead on Taylor's 24-yard touchdown pass to Sanfrisco Magee. Mizzou reached the red zone with 80 seconds left but turned the ball over on downs. The Tigers got one final possession with 51 seconds remaining, but Simmons' Hail Mary fell incomplete. Coach Eli Drinkwitz said Mizzou had chances to win in the fourth quarter but did not capitalize.
