One WNBA award voter chose Olivia Miles, Azzi Fudd, Flau’jae Johnson, Sydney Taylor and Pauline Astier for a five-player All-Rookie ballot. Miles led rookies in points and assists; Fudd’s scoring and defense and the other picks’ team impact shaped the ballot.
Astier was chosen for her role on New York’s 25-16 team and efficient shooting. Johnson was the rookie class’s second-leading scorer and ranked second in rebounds and steals; Taylor, the only pick from a losing team, ranked third in rookie scoring and hit two game-winners in August.
The voter also considered Awa Fam, Laura Juskaite and Kiki Rice, but left all three off; Fam was the toughest omission. Rice missed 16 games with a left ankle sprain. Though Fudd played only two more games, the voter said her contributions on a winning team and greater amount of meaningful play favored her.
