Georgia Senate candidate Mike Collins is asking supporters to “put some diesel in the tank” for his campaign as AAA reports a national diesel average of $6.31 per gallon; he has voted six times against resolutions to end U.S. hostilities in Iran.
AAA says the $6.31 national diesel average is more than $2.75 per gallon above a year ago and just below Georgia’s $6.35-per-gallon record set last week. Georgia’s average gasoline price is $4.16 per gallon, up from $2.89 a year ago.
Collins has said he “wholeheartedly supports” the Trump administration’s policies and that “the president’s gotten this right” when asked whether the U.S. should have gone to war in Iran. At a Friday campaign stop, he acknowledged fuel prices were too high but blamed “Bidenomics.” The article says inflation rose as the U.S. emerged from the pandemic but eased by the end of Biden’s term, when gas averaged about $3.08 and diesel $3.71 per gallon; Collins’s campaign did not respond to a request for a fuel-price plan.
