Recent Iowa polls give Democrat Josh Turek a narrow average lead over Republican Ashley Hinson in the Senate race, while Democrat Rob Sand leads Republican Zach Lahn for governor. The latest Marist survey put Turek ahead 50%-42% and Sand 54%-42%.
Polls were not consistent: Emerson showed Hinson ahead 50%-45%, co/efficient had her up 46%-42%, and Cygnal found a 42.9%-42.9% tie; Sand led Lahn in all three. In the Marist survey, voters overall expected Hinson to beat Turek despite Turek leading in stated support.
As of Sept. 22, Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated the Senate race a “toss-up” and the governor’s contest “Leans Democratic.” A Lahn campaign spokesperson called the polls incorrect, saying they were wrong in the primary too, and said the campaign would win in November.
