The White House has released the three-course menu Melania Trump planned for Thursday’s state dinner for Donald Trump and Xi Jinping: yellow squash velouté, sesame-crusted sea bass and vanilla crémeux with White House honey ice cream.
The squash velouté will include wild mushrooms, herbs, crispy pancetta and scallion oil; the sea bass will be served with bok choy, eggplant and fresh-herb sauce. Dessert also includes walnut frangipane and sour cherry confit. The dinner will begin with Schramsberg Blanc de Noir, the sparkling wine served at the 1972 Nixon-Zhou toast in Beijing, according to the White House release.
Xi is making his first U.S. state visit since 2015 during a three-day trip to Washington. Trump and Xi are expected to discuss trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, global prices and security. Christopher Macchio and musical groups from the U.S. Marine Corps and Army are scheduled to perform.
