Medtronic lifts FY27 growth forecast after strong first-quarter results

Medtronic raised its fiscal 2027 organic revenue-growth outlook to 7.25%–7.75%, from 6.75%–7.25%, after a strong first quarter. Q1 organic growth was 13.7%, including $570 million from an extra fiscal week, a one-time contribution.

Medtronic’s $700 million partnership with Hong Kong-based Cornerstone Robotics gives it distribution rights to the Sentire robotic-assisted surgical system in select approved markets outside the U.S. Sentire has approvals in China, the European Union and Singapore for general, gynecologic, thoracic and urologic procedures.

CEO Geoff Martha cited ongoing strength in Cranial and Spinal Technologies, Surgical, and Cardiac Rhythm Management, along with momentum in Hugo robotic surgery, Symplicity, Altaviva, Affera and Stealth AXiS. The article notes competition from Johnson & Johnson in electrophysiology and cardiac devices, and from Intuitive Surgical in robotics.
