McManis lists winery and vineyard portfolio spanning 3,500 acres for nearly $78 million

Moneywise

McManis Family Vineyards has listed its winery and 10 vineyards, covering 3,500 acres, for just under $78 million. The US-Canada trade war was one factor behind the sale; Canadian bans cost the US wine industry $357 million in 2025, the Wine Institute says.

The winery facility and its 122 acres are listed for $22.5 million, while the other 10 vineyards are priced from $800,000 to $14 million. The McManis brand is excluded from the bundle but may be discussed at a separate price, the listing says. President and co-owner Ron McManis said the decision was very hard for his family.

The winery can crush up to 50,000 tons of grapes and bottle 2.5–3 million cases annually, but it recently lowered production to 29,000–34,000 tons of wine grapes a year. The Wine Institute says losses from Canadian bans increased during 2026, without giving a new total. Finding a buyer may be difficult amid limited vineyard demand and falling property values; California growers removed roughly 38,000 acres of wine grapes in 2025, about 7% of the state's planted total.
