After the Internationals swept the Presidents Cup foursomes 5-0 at Medinah to take a 7-3 lead into day three, Paul McGinley questioned whether the U.S. had prepared enough for the format, including by playing together.
McGinley said he did not know how much preparation the Americans had done and did not want to criticize them. He described assessing a course’s demands, such as par-five play and holes where a driver is needed, then matching those skills to players and pairings.
Brandt Snedeker said the International team simply performed better that day. His U.S. pairings included Scottie Scheffler with Sam Burns and Cam Young with Justin Thomas.
