Matix Frithsmith ran for 211 yards and four touchdowns in Hart’s 34-17 win over Saugus Friday. After Camren Ketner’s injury, he moved from running back to quarterback late in the third quarter and sealed the Foothill League victory with a 90-yard fourth-quarter touchdown.
Hart’s plan to keep the ball from Saugus receiver Landon Lattimore, who entered with 12 touchdowns, limited him to a 29-yard shovel-pass score that gave Saugus its last lead, 17-14, in the third quarter. Frithsmith answered with a one-yard touchdown, and Hart’s defense later stopped Saugus on downs at the Hart 10. At 4-1, Hart now takes over as Foothill League title favorite ahead of a clash with longtime champion Valencia.
