Marcus Smart says he chose the Houston Rockets after the Lakers’ offer did not match his performance or provide the contract security he wanted. He signed a two-year, $13 million deal with Houston that includes a player option for the second season.
Smart joined the Lakers last season after injury-hit years. The Athletic’s John Hollinger wrote that BORD$ valued him at $11.6 million after his strong play, giving him confidence to test free agency.
