Nancy Mace warned Iran could exhaust US missile stocks by sending $20,000–$50,000 Shahed drones against $4 million Patriot interceptors. She urged a Senate war-powers vote; senators rejected a measure limiting Trump’s Iran-war powers, 49–50, on Thursday.
The Kyiv Independent reported that more than 800 Patriot interceptors were used to destroy Iranian drones in the war’s first three days. CNN reported that a March 3 briefing to lawmakers cited the drones’ low cost, small size and swarm capability as factors that could overwhelm air defenses. The $35,000 LUCAS drone Mace cited is made by Arizona company SpektreWorks; its maker says it was reverse-engineered and has a wingspan similar to Iran’s Shahed-136.
The House passed the war-powers measure last week with 220 votes, including seven Republicans. Administrations of both parties have argued for decades that the concurrent-resolution process under the 1973 War Powers Resolution is unconstitutional and cannot bind a president.
