Lucas Spence’s three homers power Astros to 7-5 win over Athletics

Houston beat the Athletics 7-5 in the opener of their season-ending four-game series, hitting five home runs. Rookie Lucas Spence hit three, including a ninth-inning homer that restored a two-run lead as Houston chased the division title and a playoff spot.

Spence became the third player in MLB history to hit his first three career home runs in one game. Houston had trailed 4-3 before Isaac Paredes tied the game in the sixth; Spence put the Astros ahead in the seventh.
