LSU student Kendall Francis says an appeal let an unnamed football player play despite a university Title IX finding that he was responsible for rape. She sought criminal charges; the district attorney's office opened an investigation, but no charges have been announced.
Francis says the alleged assault happened around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 18, 2025, and that LSU police took her to a hospital, where she spent about seven hours and underwent a rape-kit examination. She also alleges the player's mother asked her not to press charges and that he sent her $1,000 to keep her from doing so. Francis says LSU initially suspended the player for a year; after his appeal, he remained responsible under the university process but could play and join student organizations.
