Lesley-Anne Down says Burt Reynolds wore lifts to look about 4 inches taller

Lesley-Anne Down recalled that Burt Reynolds wore heeled boots and insoles while filming the 1980 movie “Rough Cut” in London, seeking about four extra inches despite standing roughly six feet tall; she urged him not to wear them because his feet would hurt.

Down also joked that Reynolds was preoccupied with his hair, height and appearance. A 1989 TV Guide profile said he no longer wore lifts and probably never needed them, “except in his mind’s eye.”
