Westbury High senior LePaul Warren, 17, was fatally shot Friday morning near campus in southwest Houston. The school entered “secure mode,” but officials said it was not in lockdown and there was no active threat inside.
Warren was an all-district basketball player and had been nominated for Mr. Texas Basketball in November 2025. He also played defensive back and wide receiver for Westbury.
About 25 troopers were searching for the gunman, while investigators canvassed the neighborhood for Ring camera footage. Officials said they recovered some video and were reviewing it; authorities have not said what led to the shooting.
