Kevin Kisner says Collin Morikawa’s putting in team matches may explain his changing Team USA pairings: Wyndham Clark will be his ninth different partner in 15 Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup fourball and foursomes matches. They are paired for Thursday at Medinah.
On the Fore Play Podcast, Kisner said Morikawa’s steady all-round play may lack the standout strength he thinks is especially valuable in fourball. He said Morikawa has not made mid-range putts consistently in team matches, appears uncomfortable putting in that format and is better suited to alternate shot.
Kisner said a prolific birdie-maker such as Dustin Johnson could complement Morikawa in fourball. The pair earned three points together at the Ryder Cup where Morikawa went unbeaten in four matches and contributed 3.5 points overall. Morikawa has won six of his eight Presidents Cup matches.
