The Los Angeles Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 in Saturday’s preseason finale. Play was fairly even at five-on-five, but the Kings scored on two of four power plays, compared with Anaheim’s one on two, and Ducks mistakes helped Los Angeles pull away in the third.
Lukas Dostal stopped 14 of 20 shots. The analysis singled out the Ducks’ fourth line, which won its minutes during seven minutes together at five-on-five; it said Judd Caulfield could make the opening-night roster or lineup. It also flagged continued defensive-zone problems around the net.
Ian Moore, out with a lower-body injury, was expected to miss another 1–3 weeks. AJ Greer was day-to-day and hoping for an opening-night Ducks debut; Drew Helleson was also day-to-day, while Pavel Mintyukov missed the game with an illness. Final rosters are due Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. PST, and Anaheim opens in Las Vegas on Oct. 2.
