Kings Court in Holt was rated inadequate and placed in special measures after a July inspection by the Care Quality Commission. Inspectors cited leadership, reliance on agency staff and inconsistent care; staff took eight minutes to assist after one observed call for help.
Kings Court is a 66-bed residential and nursing home for older people, including those with dementia; room fees start at £1,400 a week. Inspectors said frontline staff were kind and caring, but low staffing meant residents sometimes waited extended periods for personal support, including toileting.
Operator Kingsley Healthcare Group said it had appointed a new manager, made staffing changes and reduced its reliance on agency workers, and apologised to residents and families. The CQC said it had noted some improvements since the manager’s appointment and would closely monitor the service; it can cancel the home’s registration and ultimately stop it operating.
