Former NC State coach Kevin Keatts called UNC’s first team under Michael Malone fast, deep and capable of protecting the rim after watching its first practice. He praised Utah transfer Terrence Brown’s play and leadership, and described Sayon Keita as an elite shot blocker.
Keatts also said Neo Avdalas and Jarin Stevenson have ACC experience and size at the forward spots, and that UNC is built to play at an up-tempo pace.
It remains unclear whether Brown or Avdalas will be UNC’s lead facilitator, the report said. The team was also hoping to resolve Cameron Fens’ eligibility issue so he could potentially start.
