A “Welcome to Vice City” sign now sits atop Miami’s Kaseya Center under a joint marketing agreement involving Miami-Dade County, the arena and Rockstar Games, ahead of GTA VI’s November release. The county’s chief of staff said it received a contribution of less than $1 million.
At a county budget hearing, Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis referred to reports of discussions about other possible promotions, including Miami International Airport posing as Vice City Airport, a wrapped Metro Mover train and county manhole covers. Chief of staff Christopher Hudtwalcker said the only signed agreement was with the Heat arena. GTA VI’s fictional Vice City is heavily inspired by Miami.
