After the White House press pool boycotted Trump’s remarks, a judge granted CNN, Politico and MS NOW 14 days of White House access while their legal challenge to his attempted ban proceeded. The GOP fears his falling approval could hurt its midterm prospects.
Real America’s Voice attended Trump’s Wednesday remarks, but background noise made his comments largely inaudible. Asked about the attempted press ban, Pope Leo XIV said reporters were welcome and stressed that good media coverage matters for everyone. During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit, lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling said a military flyover appeared to startle Trump; according to Hickling, he remarked, “Oh, that was loud.”
Some surveys put Trump’s approval at all-time lows. A GOP senator said polls consistently showed Republicans behind in North Carolina and Georgia and argued the party should move campaign resources to races it had a better chance of winning; some Republicans reportedly want to pull resources from those Senate contests. Rep. Nancy Mace, a former Trump supporter, wrote on X that Republicans would “for SURE” lose North Carolina’s Senate seat.
