Jordan Aaron Hall says Debbie Allen asked him to sing at his “A Different World” callback after spotting his musical-theater degree. His singing impressed Allen; Hall got a screen test that afternoon. He plays Amir in Netflix’s sequel, premiering Sept. 24.
Hall said he felt an immediate connection with the six-person new cast—himself, Maleah Joi Moon, Alijah Kai, Chibuikem Uche, Cornell Young IV and Kennedi Reece—during their chemistry read, describing the group as a family.
Hall said members of the original cast welcomed the younger actors and urged them to stay together and support one another, emphasizing the series’ place as a cultural staple.
