Jon Watts attached to direct a new Star Wars film in development

A new “Star Wars” film is in development with Jon Watts attached to direct. Simon Kinberg will write the screenplay, according to a previous Variety report.

Watts directed Tom Holland’s three “Spider-Man” films and co-created the 2024 “Star Wars” series “Skeleton Crew” with Christopher Ford. The series is set in the New Republic era.

The last “Star Wars” film to debut theatrically was 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” directed by J.J. Abrams.
