A Jefferson County jury convicted Beaumont man Jimmy King Jr. of felony possession of child pornography and online solicitation of a minor. The verdict was read Friday; after King admitted two prior convictions, the punishment phase began.
King admitted prior convictions for attempted sexual assault of a child in 2024 and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in 2010. The possession count is a third-degree felony and online solicitation a second-degree felony; the prior convictions allow the jury to consider an enhanced punishment range.
A probable-cause affidavit said text messages on King's phone indicated he was soliciting sex from a teen and that he was found with child pornography. The article says he was also indicted in 2023 on two counts of sexual performance of a child, sexual assault of a child and failure to comply with sex-offender registry requirements.
