Virginia Tech beat Boston College 21-14 in heavy winds and rain Saturday, moving to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in ACC play. Jeffrey Overton Jr.'s 76-yard touchdown run put the Hokies ahead with about five minutes left, after a touchdown and two-point conversion tied the game.
Boston College quarterback Mason McKenzie scored both Eagles touchdowns: he ran 45 yards before a short scoring run, then scored from two yards with 11 minutes remaining. Overton finished with a career-high 190 rushing yards on 24 carries and added three catches for 19 yards.
Virginia Tech quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer completed 22 of 25 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. It is the Hokies' first 4-0 start since 2017; their next game is against Pitt next Friday night.
