Virginia Tech beat Boston College 21-14 in Chestnut Hill on Saturday, rallying from a 14-6 fourth-quarter deficit amid heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 40 mph. Jeffrey Overton Jr.’s 76-yard touchdown run put the Hokies ahead and lifted them to 4-0.
Virginia Tech scored only on John Love field goals in the first half and third quarter. Boston College took a 14-6 lead on two rushing touchdowns by quarterback Mason McKenzie, but Ethan Grunkemeyer’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Marlion Jackson and a successful two-point conversion tied the game.
